Difference between weighted mean and unweighted mean

Q what is the diff b/w weighted and unweighted mean?
what is the meaning average=‘macro’

Hi Soumyadeep,

  1. In weighted mean , instead of each data point contributing equally to the final mean, some data
points contribute more “weight” than others.Typically, we want to calculate weighted averages as it prevents skewing from categories with smaller sample sizes.

If all the weights are equal, then the weighted mean equals the arithmetic mean (the regular
“average or unweighted” we’re used to).

  2. average=‘macro’ - A macro-average will compute the metric independently for each class and then take the average (hence treating all classes equally).

I hope it helps
