Data Science Specialization Best practices regarding optional

Hello all,
My query is this is it best to skip the optionals for now and get back to it once i go through the non optional ones sequentially or is it better to do the optionals, By doing the optional do i get like an added advantage or edge over certain topics?? If so could you recommend which ones?

One more query is i have completed the Big Data fundamentals and was wondering whether i need to do the Java fundamentals as it is optional and i just wanted to know whether it would help me in Big Data or whether Python is sufficient enough for the same… mainly i wanted to know whether i would be missing out on anything if i skipped on the java front.

Hi Surjiv,

What I suggest is, if you have time in hand then give the optional courses too a shot. They are very informative, for example I too was thinking to give the Jave Course a skip, but later on ended up doing them. It was a quick revision for me.

For Machine Learning I suppose Python is enough, but for the big data front I suggest you brush up your java skills too. It will be really helpful.

But again, if you are short on time and are well versed with Java, then you can definitely skip those without hesitation.
